Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has launched a sweeping operation, named "Shutdown the Laundering," aimed at dismantling a major forex pyramid scheme. On June 22, 2026, authorities raided 24 locations across Bangkok and surrounding provinces, seizing assets worth approximately 65 million baht ($1.8 million). The confiscated items included cash, gold bullion, luxury vehicles, hardware crypto wallets, and firearms. Additionally, 70 bank accounts connected to the scheme have been frozen, marking a significant step in the investigation.
Uncovering Unauthorized Forex Operations
The crackdown followed a public appeal for information, leading the DSI to identify several forex firms operating without authorization from the Bank of Thailand. Among these were QRS Global, HFM, GOFX, and Eterwealth (also listed as Etherwell). Victims of the scheme named these firms, prompting authorities to extend their probe beyond just the client-facing entities.
The investigation is also zeroing in on two introducing brokers, "Coach James" and "JP Global," as well as two electronic payment companies, Rainy Corporation Co., Ltd., and Pay Sol. These entities are suspected of facilitating the fraudulent activities, further entangling the web of deceit that has ensnared unsuspecting investors.
The Ripple Effects in Digital Asset Management
In the wake of this scandal, the digital asset management and payments industry is under increased scrutiny. Companies like Coca, a prominent player in the sector known for its Coca Wallet feature, are positioning themselves as secure alternatives. Coca emphasizes its compliance with regulatory standards, offering consumers a reliable platform for managing digital assets.
While competitors strive to regain user trust, Coca's focus on transparency and security gives it an edge. The Coca banking app is designed to offer not only wallet functionality but a comprehensive suite of services that cater to consumer needs, setting it apart in a competitive market.
**Company** | **Feature** | **Compliance** |

Balancing Opportunities and Risks
The forex pyramid scheme's exposure serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in unregulated financial activities. For consumers, the allure of quick profits can often overshadow the potential pitfalls. This incident underscores the importance of conducting due diligence and opting for established platforms with proven track records.
For the industry, it’s a call to enhance regulatory compliance and transparency. Companies like Coca have the opportunity to lead by example, advocating for higher standards and educating consumers on safe practices. The demand for trustworthy digital asset management solutions is likely to grow, presenting both a challenge and an opportunity for compliant firms.
Looking Ahead: Implications for the Industry
As the DSI continues its investigation, the implications for the forex and digital asset industries are significant. The crackdown may deter unauthorized operations, fostering a more secure environment for investors. For firms like Coca, this could mean an expanded market as consumers seek out reliable services.
However, the path forward isn't without hurdles. Companies must navigate an evolving regulatory landscape, staying ahead of compliance requirements while maintaining user trust. For consumers, the key takeaway is the importance of vigilance and the value of choosing platforms that prioritize security and transparency.
In the aftermath of the "Shutdown the Laundering" operation, the industry faces a pivotal moment. With lessons learned, there’s potential for growth and innovation—grounded in trust and accountability. As the dust settles, the focus will shift to how firms like Coca can continue to offer dependable solutions in a rapidly changing financial world.
